Reflections that cause me to embrace the beauty of my Momma. From a very young age, it seems, I was able to sense her times of grief and anguish over the storms of life. My heart increased in love and compassion. When memories of great significance prompt me, I pause and reflect and give thanks. Those experiences deserve to be remembered for their valuable teachings in the classroom of life.

A Soft Place to land

Yesterday evening I walked down by the fence where my prayer tree stands, and threw some lettuce leaves into the field where “our” rabbits live.  The little wildflowers I had randomly planted back in the spring, were coming along, several blooms in shades of orange and pink were emerging. The Queen Ann’s Lace is blooming profusely; the white flowers were gently waving in the breeze.  As usual, I pause to listen…and invite the calming and slightly cool breeze to wrap me in a peaceful Presence. It’s a great place to soften the soul and energize the total being. The Creator takes center stage.  What the time alone was producing in my spirit, made me realize that along the highways of life, we encounter folks who are going through difficulties and once in a while, I have encountered one who needed a listening ear, “a soft place to land” for a few moments. These personal life experiences for me are a continuation of learning and give me opportunity to share with others so we can be encouraged together.

When I learned that my Momma had cancer that had metastasized to her bones, I knew she would be in great pain and would need to be cushioned wherever she sat or lay. At that time the squishy character cushions were popular, made of stretchy fabric and filled with tiny beads. I knew it would be perfect for my Momma; she would have something on which to rest her arms.. all I could find was Nemo and a banana shaped and a round cushion. I bought all three! Over time I gave thanks often that I was led to buy them because she used them while sitting and she placed them around her when she went to bed and she used them until her passing. Memories that I cherish, that bring a smile along with the tears.

And so, my outdoor spot to pause and listen to the Creator's voice thru nature affords me a "soft spot" on which to stand and know that I have a Faithful Listener.

When we are refreshed, then we can refresh others.
