It is the Unexpected Pause...

 I cannot call them interruptions.

So, as we were getting ready to go out to make a delivery, we noticed someone had stopped in front of our driveway.  The driver who was looking our way, got out of the car, along with her passenger whose gait was slow and cautious. An image not unfamiliar to us. As it turned out, she asked permission to take a picture of our 1955 Mercury which was parked in the yard.

She said, “May I get a picture of your car? My husband and his brother owned one exactly like this when they were younger.”  “You sure can,” I said. We put our face masks on and walked around the car with them.  During the conversation, the beautiful lady mentioned, ‘we’ve been married 57 years,’ my husband has Parkinson’s and we don’t go much anymore.”  She thanked us and as they were leaving, we said you’re welcome and God bless you.

We were on our way, car loaded for a delivery, then a pause to reflect as the lady walked back to her car…

Couple of days ago, I was headed out of W-M and I noticed a little girl sitting in her mommy’s cart and I spoke to her, smiling under my mask…she quickly asked, ‘what color is your necklace?”  I paused briefly and said these are my pop beads (multiple colors) and her mommy said to her, they pretty aren’t they.   As I left, to acknowledge that little one, I said, “thank you for noticing.” I didn’t know what else to say.   Now, as a grandmother who loves to teach children thru everyday conversation, if this had been 2019, I would have paused briefly, gotten closer to that little one and allowed her to name the colors and probably would have told her that Jesus loves her.

The little pauses. They have significance in our lives. 

Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unknowingly entertained angels. Hebrews 13:2

And this phrase Jesus uttered many times in His teachings:“ If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear!”

I “heard” on these two occasions; not audibly, but I got the message.
