That letter. I need to remember.

What was it he said? ---In this I give advice: It is to your advantage not only to be doing what you began and were desiring to do a year ago; but now you also must complete the doing of it.

Now there’s where I felt the sting! 

And I know it’s been longer than a year ago that I looked at the situation and said, “this needs to be done!” but it was not “being” done.

I continued to read his letter anyway:

Just as there was a readiness to desire it, there also may be a completion out of what you have.

That project. Yes. I was ready to accept that it needed work, and I desired to apply myself to get it done.

Yet! He said, “you need to complete it!” and he continued:

For if there is first a willing mind, it is accepted according to what one has, and not according to what he does not have. 

Okay. So, there is no longer an excuse. Do it according to what is at hand to work on it. Not what I don’t have to finish it immediately. Just work on it. One step at a time.

Paul’s letter to the Corinthians, Chapter 8, was about encouraging them to give generously.

But I’ve found that when I read the Scriptures, they will address those things that are of concern to me. Right now.

That’s why reading the Ancient Word is so important. It still has power to change us.

Read it daily. It’s okay to be reminded of things that are yet undone in our lives.

That can be what spurs us on to greatness. 

Finish what you started.

Not by bread alone.
