Summer exits: The lightnin' bugs have left. Tomatoes, bell peppers and green bean plantings display exhaustion in the dried and drooping vines that gave us delectable, gastronomic offerings thru the summer months. They gladly took their place and produced according to the seed that was planted. They accepted my care and then applied themselves to bring forth the best. Fruitful were they as they yielded to the Creator's design

within each seed.
Fall arrives. Pumpkin pies. Pumpkin cookies. Pumpkin Rolls with cream cheese filling. Apple pies. Apple dumplings. Apple cider. Molasses cookies and gingerbread with lemon sauce.
Nutmeg. Cinnamon. Ginger and allspice.
Fading leaves, dropping with each breath of the wind only to crunch underfoot as we walk through the yard. Crickets hiding beneath...whatever it is they hide beneath, yet offering us an autumn symphony with the other small winged creatures who have come to celebrate the change in seasons.
A symphony that inspires me…
So it's time for me to bake.
