As usual, we always look for a side trip to explore when we travel, so we decided to visit an Arboretum in Harrisonburg, VA. A most relaxing and enjoyable experience. The grounds were meticulously cared for. The Geese and Ducks were friendly and as we sat on the bench beneath the trees, with our attention fixed on the pond, we noticed a Turtle which would not raise his head from the water...there were flower arrangements strategically placed in the pond and as the summer breeze blew across the water, we noticed that the flower arrangements floated along, lazily and a Duck had hopped aboard one of those and seemed to really enjoy his ride. It was amusing to watch.

After our visit to the Arboretum, we went into town and had supper at the Bella Luna Italian restaurant which is a restored Livery barn from early 1900s.

It was an enjoyable experience and a nice way to put a comma on this vacation experience. A comma because there is always another trip or tour just waiting for the curious people of the world.

We love to be sidetracked by the beauty that awaits along the back roads of travel. Such was this day.

As we were winding our way through the mountains of West Virginia, we made a stop at Cathedral State Park and enjoyed an adventurous hike through the forest. Peaceful.

Walking the paths through ancient trees, I paused and stooped to listen to a babbling brook coursing its way through the rugged and beautiful earth. Nature has a way of singing peaceful notes for the passers -by. I seize every opportunity to bask in the gift that is presented. Being raised in the mountains just does that for my soul.

Exhilaration! Cool mountain air, songbirds, and a babbling brook. Glad we took the time to explore.

Hope you enjoyed the journey.
